The rail spur proposal and the Jenkins’ family farm

The Stop The Spur campaign is organised by a group of residents in the Vale of Glamorgan. Among them is Rhys, a cattle and arable farmer, who is the fourth generation of the Jenkins family to live on and farm this land south of the Port Road near Cardiff Airport.

In this short video he points out the farmland that the rail spur proposed by the Council will cut through. Not only is this proposal completely unnecessary and expensive, it also threatens to destroy his livelihood as a tenant farmer. Rhys and his father Gethin will be back soon to tell the story in their own words via this website.
